At JBA it's our vision to lead in society's pursuit for resilience to climate change.
Through our company strategy we have committed to supporting our clients to:
• transform their businesses, systems, assets or ways of working to become more resilient - not just following an impact, but before such impacts arise, and
• recover more quickly from the shock of an impact if and when it occurs, bringing them back online as early as possible.
Resilience is a term that can be interpreted and understood in many different ways. We have adopted a simple 4-stage framework (aware, adapt, respond, and recover)
to help our clients build their resilience to climate change, and to help explain the complexities of resilience to a wider audience of stakeholders.
To help us engage differently and raise awareness of the need for transformational thinking, we commissioned Steve Scott-Bottoms of Vesper Hill (and Professor of
Drama at Manchester University) to research, devise and create an innovative performance.
The outcome of this is 'The Boxers' Guide to Climate Resilience', a creative performance that recounts the tale of what happens when Jo - a lowly planning office in
Madeuptown - seeks advice from legendary climate warrior King Cnut. The commissioning of the 'Boxer's Guide to Climate Resilience' is just one of the innovative and
creative ways JBA are raising awareness to climate resilience across the whole of society.
This 30-minute film aims to provoke a new way of communicating awareness of climate resilience so that we are more able to adapt, respond and recover to the
challenges of a changing climate.
For us, it's not about 'Building back better'. We believe that improved resilience isn't about doing the same things but better, it's about transformational adaptation. At
JBA, we will support our clients to Build Back Smarter.
So sit back and relax. We hope you enjoy it.
